Bhuvneshwar Kumar to lead a strong Indian side full of International and IPL experience at the Hong Kong Sixes 2026

Internationals and IPL Stars Headline Team India’s Squad for Hong Kong Sixes: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Krunal Pandya, Nitish Rana, and T. Natarajan Set to Shine

Seven Indian stars bring International and IPL experience, power and flair to Hong Kong as the iconic six-a-side tournament returns from 30 October to 1 November; live in India on Sony Sports Network

Hong Kong, 5 October 2026: Team India will bring a star-studded IPL contingent for the 2026 Hong Kong Sixes, with seven leading Indian cricketers set to take on the fast-paced six-a-side format from 30 October to 1 November. Leading Team India will be seasoned pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, alongside fellow IPL performers Krunal Pandya, Shashank Singh, Rahul Tewatia, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi and T. Natarajan. The squad brings together a mix of international experience, explosive batting, all-round ability and specialist bowling to one of cricket’s fastest and most entertaining formats. The 2026 edition is also the first with JSW Sports as the Commercial Partner, bringing its experience across leagues and franchises in India and around the world.

The tournament will be broadcast live in India on Sony Sports Network.

The Team India squad comprises:

  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Captain) – Royal Challengers Bengaluru
  • Krunal Pandya – Royal Challengers Bengaluru
  • Shashank Singh – Punjab Kings
  • Rahul Tewatia – Gujarat Titans
  • Nitish Rana – Delhi Capitals
  • Rahul Tripathi – Kolkata Knight Riders
  • T. Natarajan – Delhi Capitals

IPL experience meets six-a-side cricket

With only six players on the field, the Hong Kong Sixes is a format where there is little room to settle in. Matches are fast-paced, high-scoring and built around attacking cricket, with batters encouraged to go after the bowling and every player required to contribute across disciplines.

That makes the Indian line-up particularly intriguing. Bhuvneshwar Kumar brings years of international and IPL experience and the ability to make an impact with the new ball, while Krunal Pandya provides the versatility of a proven all-rounder. Nitish Rana adds aggressive stroke play and experience at the top of the order, while Shashank Singh and Rahul Tewatia bring proven finishing ability. Rahul Tripathi adds attacking intent, with T. Natarajan providing a specialist left-arm pace option.

Mr. Anuraag Bhatnagar, Director of Marketing and Commercial, Cricket Hong Kong, China, said: “We are very grateful to the Indian cricket authorities for their support in helping us put together arguably one of the strongest sides that has represented India in the history of the Sixes. This will surely prove to be a quantum leap forward in terms of viewership and further validation for this iconic tournament.”

Team India return with unfinished business

Team India will return to the Hong Kong Sixes looking to go deeper into the competition after opening their 2025 campaign with a two-run DLS victory over Pakistan, before exiting the tournament following defeats in their subsequent matches.

The challenge will be formidable. Pakistan enters the 2026 edition as defending champions, having defeated debutants Kuwait in last year’s final to claim a record sixth Hong Kong Sixes title.

The 2026 tournament will feature eight major cricketing nations alongside four Associate Members, setting the stage for three days of fast-paced, attacking cricket at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground.

A cricket format built for spectacle

The Hong Kong Sixes is one of cricket’s most distinctive short-format competitions. Played with six players per side, the tournament compresses the intensity of a full cricket match into a rapid-fire format where boundaries, innovative shots, wickets and momentum shifts come thick and fast.

Its compact format also creates opportunities for some of the game’s biggest names to showcase a different side of their game, making it particularly suited to a live, entertainment-driven sporting environment.

For Indian fans, the 2026 edition brings the added attraction of watching a host of IPL stars step outside the conventional T20 format and adapt their skills to the unique demands of six-a-side cricket.

Tickets for the 2026 Hong Kong Sixes are now on sale at HKD 780 for all three days, giving fans access to three days of international cricket, big hitting and high-energy entertainment.

The Hong Kong Sixes returns from 30 October to 1 November 2026 — with Team India bringing a formidable dose of IPL firepower to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong, China bring Asian Games Core to Hong Kong Sixes After Rain-Hit Exit Against Pakistan

Yasim Murtaza to lead a strong seven-member squad as hosts look to turn an unfinished Asian Games campaign into a strong showing on home soil

Hong Kong, 6 October 2026: Hong Kong, China will bring the same core that represented the hosts at the Asian Games 2026 to the Hong Kong Sixes 2026, from 30 October to 1 November at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground. Hong Kong, China advanced to the Asian Games quarter-finals after a 41-run victory over Oman, only for their campaign to end without a ball being bowled when persistent rain washed out their last-eight clash against Pakistan, with Pakistan progressing based on their higher ICC ranking. Returning to home soil with the same experienced group, the hosts will now look to channel that disappointment into a strong campaign at the Hong Kong Sixes.
Led by all-rounder Yasim Murtaza, the squad features vice-captain Babar Hayat, wicketkeeper-batter Anshuman Rath, and Ehsan Khan, Mohammad Aizaz Khan, Mohammad Nizakat Khan and Nasrulla Rana.

The Hong Kong, China squad, coached by Kaushal Silva, comprises of:
  • Yasim Murtaza (Captain)
  • Babar Hayat (Vice-Captain)
  • Anshuman Rath (Wicketkeeper)
  • Ehsan Khan
  • Aizaz Khan
  • Nizakat Khan
  • Nasrulla Rana

Several members of the squad also have considerable experience of the Hong Kong Sixes, having featured prominently in the 2025 edition, when Hong Kong, China won the Plate Final against Bangladesh.

Aizaz Khan was instrumental in that victory, producing one of the standout individual performances of the tournament with an unbeaten 85 off 21 balls as Hong Kong, China secured a thrilling one-wicket win.

That experience will be valuable for a side returning to a format that demands immediate impact, with players required to adapt quickly to the six-over-a-side structure.
Hong Kong, China will face Australia and England in Pool A, setting up two high-profile contests at the start of their home campaign. The hosts will look to use their familiarity with the conditions and support of the home crowd as they take on two strong international sides in a format where momentum can change rapidly.

The 2026 edition of the Hong Kong Sixes will also mark the first edition with JSW Sports as Commercial Partner, representing the organisation’s first partnership with an international sporting property.

With an experienced home squad, a strong connection to the tournament and an opportunity to move forward from an unfinished Asian Games campaign, Hong Kong, China will enter the competition with plenty to play for when the action gets underway on 30 October.

Mr. S Gandhi, Director of Cricket and Chief Selector, Cricket Hong Kong, China, said: “The Hong Kong Sixes is a special tournament for us, and having our home team return with a strong and experienced core makes this year’s edition even more exciting. After a disappointing end to our Asian Games campaign, where rain brought our quarter-final to a premature close without a ball being bowled, the team will be eager to bounce back on home soil. With the support of our fans and the unique intensity of the Sixes format, we are looking forward to an exciting tournament and hope Hong Kong, China can make a strong run this year.”

The Hong Kong Sixes returns from 30 October to 1 November 2026 at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground, with the action to be broadcast live in India on Sony Sports Network.
